NRL scouts will have their eyes on a Texas mum today after she absolutely destroyed a man who was allegedly peeping through the window of her 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom.
Phyllis Pena told Lake Jackson Police that she had returned home from the supermarket when she spotted Zane Hawkins, 19, in her garden.
Police allege Hawkins was looking into the teenager’s bedroom window and when he saw the mother, he attempted to run away from the scene.
The mother immediately called police who arrived quickly. They caught Hawkins momentarily, but he managed to break free and tried to run away.
However, it wasn’t to be for Hawkins as he came face-to-face with Ms Pena who stood her ground, wrapped her arms around him and brutally tackled him to the road.
Police dashcam was rolling and captured the incredible incident.
Ms Pena told local news station KPRC that her “first instinct was just to make sure he didn’t go any further”.
Her daughter then helped hold down the suspect until police were able to arrest him.
“The cop fist-bumped me and he was like, ‘Hey, so I heard the Texans are looking for a new linebacker,”’ Ms Pena told the news station.
She shared footage of the incredible incident on her Facebook, and joked: “The video everyone has been waiting for. My next step is to try out for the NFL.”
Since the moment has gone viral on social media, sports commentators and players are particularly impressed with Ms Pena’s tackling technique.
Police said Hawkins was booked into jail and is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
Authorities said more charges could also be added.
