Laura Henshaw cancels wedding over Melbourne lockdown uncertainty

Influencer Laura Henshaw has made the “very sad” decision to cancel her wedding, citing the uncertainty caused by the state’s growing coronavirus outbreak.

The Keep It Cleaner founder is among millions of Victorians who have had plans turned upside down after Premier Dan Andrews announced a snap five-day lockdown starting from midnight tonight.

The lockdown is in response to an outbreak of the highly-contagious UK COVID-19 strain among hotel quarantine staff, with 13 confirmed cases so far.

While Laura’s wedding wasn’t scheduled for this weekend, she and fiance Dalt Graham decided the stage 4 restrictions and possibility of lockdown being extended meant it was best to cancel.

“Our wedding was meant to be next Saturday the 20th but we have made the call to cancel it as it would be too hard for it all to be organised in two days/probably a bit too much of an emotional roller coaster to wait it out next week, when we don’t know what the fate of the lockdown will be,” she told news.com.au.

But while Laura was upset at having to cancel just over a week out, she was looking forward to having her wedding when the timing was right.

“It’s all OK, we will postpone and will have the best day when it can come,” she said. “Just very sad today as we were so close.”

Laura also shared an emotional statement on her Instagram story, writing that she was “thinking of everyone in Melbourne right now”.

“I’m so sorry to anyone who had special moments, especially those who had funerals and won’t be able to be there or will be affected by this in any way,” she said.

Laura sent her love to those impacted and said she would be practising gratitude for what she did have as it “really helps me”.

Earlier this week, Laura had shared an excited Instagram post revealing she had picked up her “dream dress” for her wedding.

She also celebrated her hen’s party with a weekend away in Mornington Peninsula last month which was attended by her best friend and Keep It Cleaner co-founder Steph Claire Smith.

Laura’s partner Dalt proposed to the model and businesswoman in December 2018, getting down on one knee during a romantic lunch at a winery.
