A western Sydney man previously convicted of possessing child abuse material has been arrested again, charged with the same crime.
Sam Piccinelli, 24, was arrested last month at a home in Whalan, near Mt Druitt, police said on Wednesday.
Police said in a statement officers were conducting a routine check at the home when they allegedly found hundreds of indecent images stored on a gaming device in the living room.
Mr Piccinelli was arrested at the scene, taken to the local police station and charged with possessing child abuse material.
The January 14 arrest came less than three months after Mr Piccinelli was convicted of the same crime and was placed on a three-year community corrections order.
A community corrections order means the person avoids jail but is subject to certain conditions.
Mr Piccinelli was ordered not to commit any offence and to appear before the court if called upon to do so at any time during the length of the order.
Police said they will put the gaming device through a digital forensic analysis. Mr Piccinelli was refused bail and was expected to face Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday.
