Two weeks ago today Donald Trump supporting rioters stormed the Capitol building in Washington D.C, leading to the deaths of five people.

But the cleaners must have been busy because today, in far more peaceful, polished scenes, President Joe Biden was sworn into office at the same spot.

These shocking photos below show the US Capitol exactly two weeks apart.

For all of our live coverage of President Biden’s Inauguration day, you can follow our story here.

Below we take a look back at some of the best photos from the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama, all stepped out in shades of purple and violet for the inauguration of President Joe Biden on Wednesday in Washington, DC — and the significance of the colour wasn’t lost on viewers.

It was likely as a representation of bipartisanship, as the colour can be created as the result of mixing reds and blues.

Lady Gaga wowed at the inauguration, nailing her performance of the US National Anthem and donning a striking outfit – braids, giant red skirt and most noticeably, an oversized gold dove brooch – that was very Hunger Games.
