Education
We aim to increase the understanding of health professionals about leukodystrophy. We provide opportunities for international experts in different aspects of leukodystrophy to travel to Australia, speak at our conferences and seminars, and meet with doctors. Members of the ALDS can also help educate medical and genetic students about leukodystrophy as part of their university training.
Collaboration
When medical institutions are conducting surveys on topics relating to leukodystrophy, we advise our members through our newsletter. We may also provide details of interested patients for medical surveys. (Note: Personal information, such as contact details, is only provided when members have given the ALDS permission to be contacted about such things, and then only in discussion with the ALDS member.)
ALDS also endeavours to collaborate with like minded organisations, both nationally and internationally, who are acting positively, for a similar purpose to our own and for the benefit of all Leukodystrophy sufferers

Medical seminar series
To assist in keeping up-to-date with medical information, the ALDS presents a medical seminar series on leukodystrophy-related topics of interest to both members and health professionals. These events are usually held every two years, with the highlight being a keynote address from a respected international specialist in the field.
Please follow our updates in news and events.
