A New Year Message from the President

Now that we are into the New Year and most likely resuming all of our everyday activities and responsibilities, I hope that a little bit of holiday calm stays with you – for a little while at least. Mostly, I hope that you, your family and in particular your loved one who is affected by Leukodystrophy coped well through the Christmas and New Year season and that you had some joyous and memorable occasions.

As I said in my December newsletter report, over the past few years I’ve met many wonderful families who seem to cope so well with the many challenges that a Leukodystrophy brings. Of course I generally see them on “good days”, when the toughest of times are disguised by a wish to share positively with others affected. But – I know it is hard, albeit in different ways for different families.

Whilst ALDS can’t always solve everyone’s problems, as an organisation we are better placed than ever to assist our member families. I encourage you all to contact our group if you are in need of assistance.

To those people and organisations who supported us last year, please know that we are very grateful for your generosity. It is the donations and grants we receive each year which allow us to continue our work for families affected by Leukodystrophy.

To our families, I wish you all strength, peace and resilience for the coming year.
